This wider scope can also mean bringing in web service data from external sources (eg, occupancy, air quality, and other IoT sensor packages). The level of data normalization required involves deeper-level agreement on how to achieve uniform data structure. Specifications may accept JSON payload via MQTT or they may request web APIs.
