This session will explore the use of Niagara in a process industry setting—applications that are often considered the domain of traditional PLC or DCS platforms. Two case studies will be presented: The first comes from the Utah Olympic Park where snow equipment across the park needs to be maintained within a narrow temperature range to meet regulations and ensure athlete safety. Phoenix Contact built a fault-tolerant process control system using Niagara. The second comes from Chesapeake Controls who built a centralized utility metering system for food-process industry customer Kraft-Heinz Corporation. Niagara revealed where there was need to repair compressed-air leaks; dial back on steam boilers; unload refrigeration systems; shut down machinery, saving Kraft-Heinz significant energy and carbon footprint costs.
