BRICK SCHEMA TAG DICTIONARY

Brick is an open-source effort to standardize semantic descriptions of the physical, logical and virtual assets in buildings and the relationships between them. Brick consists of an extensible dictionary of terms and concepts in and around buildings, a set of relationships for linking and composing concepts together, and a flexible data model permitting seamless integration of Brick with existing tools and databases.[source: https://brickschema.org/]

As we move more data into the cloud, we need to prepare for how cloud tools look at the data.  These tools need to understand that 72, is a temperature in Fahrenheit , that is from Room 201, that is connected to Zone1 of  RTU1, inside the Building called VA01 on North Street. It's all about context and how they relate to each other.

Niagara utilizes a Tag Dictionary Service that helps augment context to your data and running multiple Tag Dictionaries gives you the ability to support different ontologies. In Niagara 4.14 we've added Brick to your options, join us for an overview of utilizing the Niagara Brick Tag Dictionary

Some other features and benefits include:

  • Energy management consultants and others doing sophisticated analytics want the foundation of building data enriched with standardized tagging!
  • Brick Schema is an ontology specified for more and more projects due to its knowledge graph methodology and descriptive relation definitions.
  • Built-in dictionary support makes tagging an easier lift!
  • Add standardized tags as you go about the job of systems integration with Niagara.
  • Augments Haystack support.

Kevin Mamajek, Product Manager, will cover the Brick Schema Support in Niagara 4.14.
