Scout is an intuitive Niagara search tool used to easily find and modify BACnet and LonWorks points on a network. Scout can export searched points to a text file (with values); set, override, and release override; access property sheet; search by point name, point display name, or tag; and multi-edit (mass set, mass override and/or mass auto). Scout will simplify your daily navigation, process, and workflow.
In addition, Scout is a powerful tool for streamlining balancing and commissioning with features like system-wide Max Cooling and Max Air Flow settings, which automatically prepare all VAV devices in an area or building at once. This can also be used for regular system testing to ensure the building is working properly.
Here’s an example of how to use Scout for system-wide testing:
- Open Scout and go to the table view.
- Search for VAV devices and add relevant points (such as setpoint, damper position, and supply air temperature).
- Subscribe to these points for monitoring.
- Select all and use mass-override to modify as many devices as you would like to test at one time
- Use the sort and filter options to bring any problematic devices to the top of the list, making it easy to identify devices that are not heating or cooling properly or have dampers that are not fully opening or closing as expected.
